HOB

Gear Hob (S.T.D)

  • G HOB : General tooth profile of standard hob cutter called Finish hob
  • S-TOP : Hob for prevention of noise by making chamfer on the outside diameter of the gear

Hob with two milling angle that is designed to have double tooth number in the
same outside diameter. The productivity can be increased by lowering chip
thickness and cutting load.

  • Lower cutting load : Wear on the edge of the hob and overload is decreased by double tooth
    number than usual

Carbide hob

LANG('초경호브')

Normal gear is cut before heat treatment, but Skiving hob cut the gear after heat
treatment. The hardness of the gear after heat treatment is very high(HRC52-58)
. Carbide hob can cut the heat-treated gear. The material of carbide hob is
imported from Europe and can be used as long life tool by special processing.

used in our country. This is based on American Standards Amendment No. 29.1. 
which has complete compatibility as inch size has been converted into millimeter size.
Attention should be made as DIN/BS(8180, 8187, 8188)

A worm hob is designed according to the specification of worm shaft. There is no 
standardized tool. In general, hob cutter is being produced into "ZK" type. 
As the size of worm hob cutter is determined according to specifications of worm shaft & worm wheel,
it can be produced as desired specifications by providing precise.

Specifications for ordering
  • ① Normal module or Axial Module, DP
  • ② Pressure angle(Normal, Axial)
  • ③ Worm's outside diameter or PCD
  • ④ Worm's lead angle
  • ⑤ Number of thread and lead direction
  • ⑥ Shank specification in case of shank type
  • ⑦ Standard contact ratio between the worm and worm wheel applies normally 20~30% and bore type or shank type can be determined like right table.
  • ■ CAVEX WORM - As the tooth profile is different depending on the maker the specification of the profie should be discussed.
  • ■ As the outside diameter of the hob is determined by outside diameter of the worm,
    it could not be possible to design by arbor type of hob occasionally. In case of the 
    design arbor type hob, the dimension of arbor side, taper of hobbing machine, the 
    specification of the setting bolt, rotation direction of hob and connecting direction
    (left or right) of the arbor in the hobbing machine should be clarified.
